Plucking the Daisy
Spanning three decades, famous pin-up girl Brigitte Bardot worked with a range of directors from her ex-husband Roger Vadim and New Wave frontiersman Jean-Luc Godard to the black-listed Edward Dmytryk. As a symbol for unbridled sexuality, her image resonated amongst a generation of post-war youth desperately seeking reinvention. In Plucking The Daisy, Agnes Dumont (Bardot) anonymously writes a scandalous best-selling romance novel for which her father--the highly respected General Dumont--ships her off to a convent. Instead, she flees to Paris to live with her brother who claims to be a rich and famous painter (he's really just a tour guide at the Balzac museum). Typical for a romantic comedy starring Brigitte Bardot, this bit of miscommunication gets Agnes and her brother into some serious trouble and in need of some serious cash. Their prayers (as well as Bardot fan's) are answered when a striptease contest announces a grand prize of 200,000 francs.
